100% Silk Announces Benefit Compilation Silk To Dry The Tears on One Year Anniversary of Ghost Ship Tragedy

On December 2nd 2016, at roughly 11:20 p.m. PST, a fire broke out in a warehouse known as Ghost Ship, that had been converted into an artist collective. Tomorrow will mark the anniversary of the tragic Ghost Ship fire in Oakland that killed 36 people. 100% Silk was hosting a show at the warehouse at the time of the fire, and two artists associated with the electronic label, Cherushii (born Chelsea Faith Dolan) and Nackt (born Johnny Igaz), died that night. Today, the label has announced a benefit compilation album called Silk To Dry The Tears that features contributions from 31 label artists and alumni affiliated with the label. Half of the profits from the compilation will go toward the Oakland-based coalition Safer DIY Spaces. The compilation comes out on February 9th, 2018.

The label posthumously released Nackt’s EP Night System in January. DFA Records label manager Kris Petersen announced a compilation to benefit the victims, titled Lives Through Magic earlier this year. See the tracklist and listen to selections from Silk To Dry the Tears below.
