This is an event for whoever loves hard rock. The legendary Converge is coming to the Echoplex Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 with the support of Sumac and Cult Leader. Converge is set to deliver their newest album The Dusk In Us Nov. 3, so it’s safe to say this tour is in support of the album.
Sumac is currently wrapping up recording their new album due sometime this year, according to MetalInjection.net. Cult Leader’s 2015 album is available to listen to via bandcamp.
Spanning across eight dates along the western side of the United States and Canada, the tour begins Jan. 19 in Vancouver, British Columbia at the Rickshaw Theatre and ends Jan. 28 in Mesa, Arizona at the Nile Theatre. Although theres multiple dates in California, Angelenos only get one chance to catch the bands perform.
Doors to the event will open at 8pm, and ticket prices are only $20 if you buy before the show. Prices will rise to $24 the day of the show. The event is 18 and over, so almost everyone gets a chance to enjoy a little bit of hard rock. Tickets just went on sale last week so make sure you cop your tickets while you have the chance.
A 4-person band, Converge began their journey in 1996. With roots in Salem, Massachusetts, Converge is revered for their distinctive blend of hardcore punk and heavy metal. The band is often considered the catalyst in the development of genres like metalcore and mathcore, helping redefine them in the 1990s and 2000s.
Converge is a very well-known band, to say the least. They are regarded as “one of the most original and innovative bands to emerge from the punk underground,” according to AllMusic.
The band broke into mainstream limelight when the album Jane Doe was released, which was hailed as the best album of 2001 by Terrorizer and the 61st best metal album of all time by Rolling Stone. The band has released eight studio albums, two compilation albums, a video album, two EPs and five split albums since their inception.
