Brand New Confirms They Will Call It Quits in 2018

While there has been speculation for the past couple of years that emo rock band Brand New was going to break up, it appears that has been confirmed by the group in a couple of social media posts, as reported by AP. At recent concert frontman, Jesse Lacey once again reiterated that the band would cease to exists in 14 months, at the end of 2018. This had been speculated for some time as after the band returned from their lengthy hiatus last year they began selling shirts that indicated that the group was finished after 2018. Fans should not be all that surprised as Lacey has repeatedly said in interviews and at concerts that the band is coming to an end, but now we have yet another definitive statement that Brand New will call it quits after 2018 runs out.

Brand New rose to fame as part of the initial emo rock explosion of the early 00’s before taking an extended hiatus beginning in 2009. The band regrouped last year for a successful tour and a new album, Science Fiction, came out earlier this year, landing at the number 1 position on the Billboard charts and getting favorable reviews from critics. Brand New is currently on a North American tour in support of Science Fiction.
