Nelly Arrested While Touring on Charges of Second Degree Rape

On Saturday morning, singer/rapper Nelly was allegedly taken into custody after a woman called authorities claiming she was raped. According to Pitchfork, he was arrested in Auburn, Washington for rape charges while on tour with country band Florida Georgia Line. The assault allegedly transpired on the rapper’s tour bus early Saturday morning in the Seattle area after performance at the White River Amphitheater.  According to TMZ, Nelly’s attorney gave the following statement:

“I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.” His lawyer also stated that Nelly is a victim of false allegations and the woman accusing him has no credibility, motivated by greed and malice.

As mentioned by local fox affiliate Q13, Nelly was scheduled to appear at a 4 year anniversary party Friday night at the Aston Manor nightclub in Seattle. He and Florida Georgia Line were set to perform a show tonight in Washington.
