STRFKR At The Teragram Ballroom 02/03/18

Look out, 2018. STRFKR is coming for you at full force. Start planning out your concerts for next year with this February gem. Angelenos will get a chance to see the electronic indie rock band twice beginning next year. The quartet recently revealed plans for a North American tour at the beginning of the new year, which will make stops across the United States between January and February.

Starting Jan. 19 at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, a multitude of dates are scheduled over the course of six weeks, including stops at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, the Observatory North Park in San Diego and two stops at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles Feb. 3 and Feb. 4. The show is all ages, prices beginning at $26. Tickets just went on sale last week via AXS so cop them now while you can. They will be sure to sell out fast.

The Portland, Oregon natives are going on tour in support of their recent three-volume Vault release, which came through Polyvinyl Records. Vault Vol. 1 and Vault Vol. 2 were released earlier this year. The band dropped the first two albums of the project in February and July respectively. Their latest studio effort is a follow up to the acclaimed Being No One, Going Nowhere (2016), which peaked at No. 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums chart.

The band jumped the indie music scene with the first EP, Starfucker. Their first album, also titled Starfucker, was released in 2008 via Badman Recording. Their second album titled Jupiter came out the next year through the same label. However the band didn’t achieve serious mainstream success until the following year, with the release of the album Reptilians, which peaked at number 26 on the US Top Heatseekers Albums chart.

Their next album, titled Miracle Mile, broke onto three of the US Billboard charts (Indie, Mainstream and Heatseekers) and received generally favorable reviews from music critics. Pitchfork said that the usually cheerful band took dark turn on that album, with Hodges singing about his “fear of death, restless nights, romantic tragedy, and emotional crisis.”
