Throughout October’s entirety, Red Bull Radio (www.redbullradio.com) is set to feature LA-focused programming, including event live streams from the festival, conversations with featured artists on the station’s daily Peak Time show, and more. If you don’t know what that entails, you’ll get a chance to find out. One of those live streams is happening Oct. 10 in an undisclosed, yet-to-be-determined location with LA’s funk maven Dâm-FunK. The night is sure to be lit with a myraid of funky, soulful tunes and tracks that you can’t help but dance to. There’s also rumored to be some special guests that night, which are TBA as well. All in all, the club is going up on a Tuesday.
For this first-ever Red Bull Radio event broadcast in front of a live audience, Dâm-FunK invites the audience to enter the Glydezone, a mythical space for boogie, soul, cosmic constructions and beyond, according to RBMA’s website. For every third Friday of the month on Red Bull Radio, the man also known as Damon Riddick takes a walk through musical history to present the past, present and future of the “funkmosphere”, along with exclusionary song debuts, guest mixes and in-depth conversations featuring music entrepreneurs from different decades. As part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival Los Angeles, Dâm-FunK will document an exquisite Tuesday edition of Glydezone live with some of the best funk records that the audience will ever hear.
Riddick is an American modern-funk musician, vocalist and producer from Pasadena, California. After struggling to begin a musical career and a brief apprenticeship under S.O.L.A.R. producer Leon Sylvers III, Dâm-FunK signed with the L.A.-based record label Stones Throw Records in 2007. Since then, the man has been doing his thing, all while getting mentions in the New York Times, SFWeekly, and Rolling Stone Magazine. He released two solo albums to date, Toeachizown (2009) and Inside the Light (2015), alongside a plethora of singles and 4 compilation albums spanning over 8 years.
