INVSN Goes Dream Pop on Cover of Lana Del Rey Song “Love”

2017 has been very a productive year for INVSN. Since March the Swedish punk band has dropped their new album The Beautiful Stories, released videos for both of the album’s singles’ “Immer Zu,” “This Constant War,” and have announced fall dates for their upcoming tour. But before Dennis Lyxzen, Sara Almgren, Christina Karlsson, Anders Stenberg and André Sandström take their show on the road the group has released cover of Lana Del Ray‘s “Love” off her album Lust for Life.

The INVSN describes what drew them to doing the cover of “Love” by stating, “Deciding to do a Lana Del Rey cover was easy. Her interest in the American undercurrent/underclass mirrors our interest in the others, the misfits and the freaks, the revolutionaries, the dreamers and the broken. She is the Hegelian contradiction that is one of the most fascinating aspects of America.” It’s interesting how the group puts their own twist to Lana Del Ray’s “Love.” When you listen to their cover it sort of feels like they combined folk, electronic pop and rock together. The cadence and the tone of Lyxen’s voice gives their cover a dose of folk music vibes, the electronic guitar provides the rock energy and Almgren’s angelic pop voice gives it color. The dreamy setting that the cover presents is as peaceful as watching the sunset on a green grassy hill. Below you can checkout INVSN’s cover to Lana Del Ray’s “Love.”
