Trans Pecos Festival Announces 2017 Lineup Featuring Wilco, Jenny Lewis and Tift Merritt

The end of summer traditionally holds notions of melancholy and an end to freedom, especially to the vast many students that despair at the thought of returning to school. Nothing can be done to really delay this return, but perhaps the Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love can offer some musical solace this September.

The boutique festival is hosted by El Cosmico, a “bohemian hotel/campground and bastion of new age hippiedom,” in Marfa, TX from September 28 to October 1. Trans-Pecos (which differs from the New York City venue which originally took its name from the Texas region) is celebrating its 12th year, with a somewhat unique take on music.

“Together we embark on a cosmic, week-long adventure of live music, camping, sandlot baseball, stars, workshops, art installations and community in the majesty of Marfa, Texas,” muses the festival about its variety of activities. “Set your compass, adventure awaits.”

And outside of the soft-spoken beauty of the festival atmosphere, the music is absolutely solid as well. Though more artists are to be announced soon, several names have been released already and it is looking amazing. Artists like Wilco, Jenny Lewis, Lee Ann Womack, Robert Ellis, and Hurray for the Riff Raff will be contributing to the rich experience that will equip people with the emotional tools to handle the first day back at school.

Tickets are available here.
