Little Dragon Releases New Video for “Strobe Light” Shot in Johannesburg

The Swedish electronic trip hop outfit Little Dragon has just released a colorful, striking new music video for the new single “Strobe Light.” The video features a pair of South African dancers dressed in bright gowns, with wild, sudden shots of cars doing sick donuts in parking lots.

“We wanted to make a film that celebrates two dancers from Johannesburg,” the creative team explained. “As well as that feeling of being young and creating your own universe within your environment and being able to express yourself in any shape or form.”

The video was directed by Ib Kamara and Kristin-Lee Moolman and shot in the beautiful South African city, challenging traditional South African mindsets regarding creativity. The video lies under a home-video-esque filter that seems ubiquitous throughout the band’s music videos.

Additionally, “Strobe Light” is most definitely the perfect track to complement the message of the video, with the particularly danceable instrumental. “Strobe Light” is on the band’s latest album Season High, which was released through Loma Vista Recordings just this April.
