Neurosis has announced its Summer 2017 tour dates with support from Converge on a nine-date run throughout North America from July 28 to August 7. View the full tour dates, below.
Converge are known as pioneers within the metal/punk underground scene, and have been active since 1990. The band includes vocalist Jacob Bannon, guitarist Kurt Ballou, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. They have released eight albums to date, and have received reviews from Spin, Rolling Stone, Stereogum and more.
Neurosis is known for its avant-garde style, developed out of Oakland, California, and their music has also been a hallmark of underground heavy metal, starting in 1985. To date, they have released 12 studio albums with their latest being 2016’s Fires Within Fires via Neurot Recordings. Converge’s most recent studio album was released in 2012, titled All the Love We Leave Behind, although they re-released their 2004 album You Fail Me in 2016 under the name You Fail Me Redux. Last month on March 3, the band released a live album of their Jane Doe set from the 2016 Netherlands Roadburn Festival, titled Jane Live.
The summer tour will begin at Chicago’s Thalia Hall and end in Philadelphia at the Union Transfer. The tour dates also include a couple stops in Canada, in both Montreal and Toronto.
You can also catch Converge right before the summer tour at this year’s Sled Island Music and Arts Festival in Calgary, Alberta from June 21-25. Steve Von Till, Neurosis’ guitarist, will release an album via his solo project, Harvestman, on May 19. The album is titled Music for Megaliths.
