LISTEN: Alt-J Releases New Song “In Cold Blood”

Alt-J have just released a single from their forthcoming album, RELAXER, which is out June 2 via Canvasback Music. Listen to the song, “In Cold Blood,” below:

The song incorporates a powerful beat largely driven by impressive percussion and horns. According to the band’s Instagram page, “It’s a song we began writing in our Leeds days and finished last year in London. The brass was recorded at Abbey Road; the keyboards were done on a Casiotone that cost £1.05 on eBay; and no-one is quite sure where the key change came from.”

RELAXER is alt-J’s third studio album, and a follow-up to 2014’s Grammy-nominated This Is All Yours, released via Infectious. This Is All Yours reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and number four in the United States, and was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Alternative Music Album.

The first single off RELAXER was released earlier this month in conjunction with the album announcement, called “3WW,”featuring Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice. According to Rolling Stone, it “showcases how much Alt-J has matured musically since their debut five years ago and their ability to go platinum despite their non-traditional song structures.” View the full track list for RELAXER, below:
