Ted Leo and the Pharmacists Announce New Kickstarter-Funded Album For Release in 2017

Late nineties rock band Ted Leo and the Pharmacists are back after seven-year draught, leaving fans thirstier than ever for what the D.C. quartet has to offer. Leo and his associates promise a new album this year, and have announced their own Kickstarter campaign designed to ensure the album’s imminent release.

According to Brooklyn Vegan, Ted Leo shares that new material for The Pharmacists has actually been written, and essentially archived for five years now. However, the group’s “reluctance”, or rather inability to release said material comes from a number of opposing factors: the two major deterrents however being financial and personal.

Leo then adds:

“Time kept moving, and all of the expectations that I had for MYSELF morphed into a more compassionate and contemplative group of feelings…and rebuilding a certain amount of confidence that I think I’d lost in my stymied relationship with the cycles of releases and promotion and needing support (not just financial) from the label I was working for…”

But, all of the members have been busy working on other, various music projects during the Pharmacists’ “hiatus”; most notably, Ted Leo’s collaboration with Aimee Man for their duo The Both, and Chris Wilson’s member-contribution to the band Titus Andronicus.

Making everyone’s dream a reality, Ted Leo and Co.’s crowdfunding of the new record is now officially fully-satiated. But, for those who still want to add a bit more security, or even some extra-added insurance to the cause, i.e. a December studio-album release, can do so until March 24th on the Ted Leo and The Pharmacists’ campaign page. Oh and, for anyone with $4,500 to spare…Ted Leo will play a private, solo show for you anywhere. I wonder if the jump out of an airplane, or peril of the white-water raft is included in that?
