The 2009 Polaris Music Prize winner, FUCKED UP will be visiting LA on March 12th to the 13th. The Canadian rock band has a storied career and have been making a name for themselves since 2001. Associated with acts such as Career Suicide, Mad Men, Pink Eyes and Left For Dead, Fucked Up has been touring the world and releasing music on such a consistent basis that it leaves one to wonder how it gets all done.
The make up and identity of the band is directly reflected by their music. With 10,000 Marbles on lead guitar, Concentration Camp providing the rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Mustard Gas on Bass and Chris Colohan on vocals it’s no surprise Fucked Up would put out such rugged and hardcore music accompanied by head thrashing and mosh pitting performances. It certainly makes for an entertaining and interesting experience.
In October of 2008 Matador Records released the band’s second studio album “The Chemistry Of Common Life.” The album was met with critical acclaim from publications that included the New York Times, Q Magazine and Pitchfork, just to name a few. The Band then embarked on a tour of the eastern U.S. that included the much covered 12 hour performance on the Bowery in New York. To the delight of many, the show featured appearances by Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend and John Joseph of the Cro-Mags.
