After announcing a massive wave of performers about a week ago, SXSW is back with another round of performers for its 2017 edition. This update mostly consists of up-and-coming talent, but does have a handful of big-name established artists. One such group, Spoon, is not exactly a revelation as they announced earlier this week that they will be performing a three-night residency at the festival along with the release of their new song “Hot Thoughts.” The band will perform three nights at The Main in Austin, though the venue will be temporarily referred to as “Enos,” a dual nod to the structure’s history as the original home of venerable ATX venue Emos as well as the band’s drummer Jim Eno.
British singer-songwriter Kate Nash will be appearing at the festival. The singer last released an album in 2013, her well received LP Girl Talk. Philadelphia scuzz rockers Purling Hiss will head down to Austin to deliver their righteous jams. Rounding out the biggest names, the reactivated Spiral Stairs (which features Scott Kannberg of Pavement fame) will take part in the festival around the same time as their new LP Doris and the Daggers.
