Shaky Knees, an annual music festival that takes place in Atlanta, Georgia will return to Centennial Olympic Park for their fifth edition in Atlanta between May 12 – 14. Shaky Knees began as a two-day festival in 2013 but has expanded to three days ever since the sophomore edition of the festival. The festival features artists from primarily the indie and alternative rock genres and performances in the past have included The Lumineers, Band of Horses, Modest Mouse, Alabama Shakes, The Strokes, Cage the Elephant, Dropkick Murphys, Iron & Wine, Old Crow Medicine Show, Florence and the Machine, Jane’s Addiction, My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Cold War Kids, and The 1975. The lineup for 2017 will feature over 60 bands on 3 stages and includes The xx, LCD Soundsystem, X Ambassadors, Third Eye Blind, Shaky Knees, Cage The Elephant, Pixies, The Shins, Moon Taxi, Dr. Dog, The Revivalists, The London Souls and Portugal.

With an incredible lineup cult favorite bands such as The xx will have an amazing platform to explore the new sound they unveiled on their recently released third album, I See You as they prepare for a world tour. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair singer Romy Madley Croft spoke about the new sound and new direction the band has taken after amazing (if unexpected) early success. Speaking of the band’s growth Croft said “When we first played live, we looked like we didn’t want to be there—we were paralyzed. I laugh about it now: why did we put ourselves onstage? But there was something internal that made us want to be there. In the past, we had to be able to play everything on our albums live. That’s why it was so minimal—we couldn’t play our instruments very well. For this one, we were like, Let’s just make some music. And if there’s seven layers of synth sounds that Jamie’s going to have trouble playing live, well, we’ll just deal with it then. And that was kind of freeing.”

Another band that will have the opportunity to unveil some new music is the recently reunited rock legends LCD Soundsystem. Following their 2016 reunion the band had previously decided to cancel the Asian leg of the tour late in 2016 in order to get back in the studio to record the first newly recorded music to follow up the band’s last release all the way from 2010’s This Is Happening and fans can’t wait to hear the new stuff. Hope’s are high for the new material from the band to drop before festival in May.

Advanced General Admission 3-Day Tickets are on sale on the festival website for $185 as well as Advanced VIP 3-Day Tickets for $525. VIP tickets include a viewing platform with premium sightlines, complimentary beer and water, a cash liquor bar, appetizers served twice daily, relaxed lounge seating, air conditioned restrooms and access to all General Admission areas.
