Consequence of Sound reports that, in an interview with Red Bull Poland, Arcade Fire drummer Jeremy Garza has revealed that the band has completed recording for the songs that will make up their fifth full-length album. The interview was first reported on by ArcadeFireTube. The LP will be the Canadian band’s first since 2013 when they released the critically-acclaimed Reflektor.

In November during a live performance the band recorded the audience live for a song that will be on their next album.

When prompted with a question about the tracklist of their next album, Garza provides a couple of choice nuggets of information. While the recordings are still being pieced together and mixed, Garza says that they are almost finished and the album should be out this year. The band has actually recorded more songs than they  need for the album, so part of the process is deciding which to include.

In the interview he acknowledges that Arcade Fire is a very popular band but their album-creation process always follows the same script: they record until they feel the music is ready.

Earlier in the conversation, Garza also drops an interesting tidbit that may hint at an extended tour after the release of the album, stating that “From my perspective, it looks like Arcade Fire starts in April and finish around April 2019.” However, he indicates later that there will be some “intervals” so a two-year straight tour seems unlikely.

The band is already confirmed to perform at several festivals this summer. This includes June festivals like Primavera Sound in Spain, Isle of Wight in the UK, Best Kept Secret Festival in Netherlands, INmusic Festival in Zagreb, Roskilde Festival in Denmark and Rock Werchter in Belgium. In July they will appear at Le Eurockeenees Festival in France, Ahoi! The Full Hit of Summer in Austria and Vieilles Charrues in France. It seems safe to assume we’ll see a lot more dates to be added to these in the near future.
