The Pretty Reckless Join Forces With Dave Grohl & Pat Smear For New Rendition Of “About You”

The Pretty Reckless are giving one of their latest songs a fresh makeover, bringing in Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Pat Smear along for the ride. The band has released a bonus version of “About You,” featuring Grohl on drums and vocals and Smear on guitar, adding a new layer of grit to a track that was already made for big choruses and loud speakers. Originally appearing on The Pretty Reckless’ fifth studio album, Dear God, released in June 2026, “About You” gets an extra jolt with the addition of two rock veterans.

Smear’s guitar work and Grohl’s hard-hitting drumming bring a distinct Foo Fighters edge without taking away from the song’s original identity. According to Momsen, the collaboration came together because “About You” was one of her favorite songs on Dear God. Wanting to do something special with it, she reached out to Grohl and Smear to see if they would lend their talents to a new version. The outcome came from what she described as an enjoyable studio experience, emphasizing the fun of making music with friends.

Consequence reported that the new rendition arrives as The Pretty Reckless continue to celebrate Dear God, a record that has helped keep the band firmly in the conversation around contemporary hard rock. The album also features “When I Wake Up,” which extended the band’s record-setting run of No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. The release also brings together artists whose paths have crossed during a busy year for rock music. The Pretty Reckless recently wrapped up their run supporting AC/DC, while Foo Fighters stepped in for two dates the band could not attend due to scheduling conflicts. Grohl even joined AC/DC onstage for a performance of “Highway to Hell” during the tour’s final show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It’s a collaboration that feels less like a novelty feature and more like a group of musicians getting together to do what they do best: turn up the volume and have some fun.
