Sir Paul McCartney, who most recently performed in Indio, CA, and will return this weekend for another performance at Desert Trip Music Festival, is continuing his streak with performances, however this one is a little more on the intimate side. According to Consequence of Sound, the former Beatle’s member got on stage at Pappy & Harriet’s Palace in Joshua Tree, CA last night and gave a once-in-a-lifetime intimate show for a capacity of only 300 lucky people.
The Desert Sun reported that McCartney had booked the gig at this small venue after hearing about it from a friend. Itching to perform what he called “a real desert trip”, McCartney made sure that only the locals would be allowed to enter the show, and among those who in attendance were Joshua Tree native, and former Queens of the Stone Age memeber, Josh Homme, as well as British artist David Hockeny, and McCartney’s wife, Nancy.
McCartney truly treated the attendees with a spectacular show, perfoming a whopping 21-song setlist that captured the audience from the very first note, playing classic hits from The Beatles arsenal with songs such as “A Hard Day’s Night”, “Lady Madonna”, and “Back in the U.S.S.R.” He also threw in some of his Wings tracks with “Nineteen Hundred and Eight-Five”, “Band on the Run”, plus mixing in a few of his solo work tracks like “Save Us”, and “My Valentine”.
With one more epic Desert Trip weekend coming up for the rock star, it is not likely that McCartney will be blessing his fans with another unexpected shows like the one at Pappy & Harriet’s, but perhaps that is exactly what he wants you to think.
