Back at again with new music, Los Angeles based punk rock band, NOFX are returning from recording their 13th studio album. First Ditch Effort hits the market on October 7th of this year via their Fat Wreck Chords label. The new CD will feature 13 tracks that the group has been working on over the last couple of years and in order to promote the announcement of the album, NOFX have decided to release the opening track “Six Years on Dope” to the public.
This year has been a crazy one for the group, composed of drummer Erik Sandin, guitarist Eric Melvin, trumpet player and lead guitarist El Hefe, and finally the frontman Fat Mike on the vocals/bass. Fat Mike spent time over the Spring getting treatment from drug and alcohol abuse, which was featured in the band’s documentary Backstage Passport show, as well in the groups new memoir “The Hepatitis Bathtub and Other Stories” quite often, usually showcasing the regimented intake of pills, cocaine, and booze that the artist took while on tour. It seems like some of those influences might have poured onto this newest album as well, with tracks titled “Six Years on Dope”, “Oxy Moronic” and other dead giveaway names.
The new track that the group released to help promote the upcoming album is a quick 2-minute feature that has Fat Mike and guitarist Melvin discussing passed issues during their hedonistic years, in only the way NOFX can.
With brand new music on the verge of being released, it can be expected that the group will intend to go on a full tour in order to help give fans the newest NOFX experience.
