Jenny Lewis, singer/songwriter and musician of Rio Kiley, as well as actress known for her appearance in TV shows such as Golden Girls and Troop Beverly Hills, has announced that she has just formed a new band named NAF, which stands for Nice as F***. Debuting at the NY rally for Bernie Sanders, Lewis was joined on stage by her new band members Erika Forster of Au Revoir Simone and The Like’s Tennessee Thomas rounding out the trio. The group posted a picture of the three of them together, announcing the news via Instagram.
Reported through Rolling Stone Magazine, Jenny Lewis is just coming off of wrapping up her tour which was a trek to support her recent LP The Voyager released in 2014, as well as her 10th anniversary that celebrated the debut of her solo act Rabbit Fur Coat; which is looking to make another stage appearance at Bon Iver’s Eaux Claires Festival in August.
Lewis is not the only artist who has joined forces for a project with Forster and Thomas, but is the most recent, Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture had most recently used the services of the two artist when he formed his project Summer Moon. Forster has been playing the keys for the keyboard-centric band Au Revoir Simone since 2003, and Thomas was drummer for the Like’s for years, until the band chose to go on hiatus in 2011. Jenny has made sure that the ones by her side on stage are top notch performers and musicians, finding exactly what she needs with the duo to create NAF.
Entertainment Weekly reported that NAF is scheduled to open for M. Ward on select dates for his current More Rain tour. Ward opened for Lewis when she went on tour for her recent solo tour, so it seems fitting that he would let her return the favor. NAF will hopefully succeed as Lewis intends it to and will take the stages by storm this year.
