American rock band L7, known for their feminist grunge music, have just added new tour dates to their already rescheduled US tour, this news follows the ladies rescheduling run of dates in the previous Spring. The tour starts the ladies off in Dallas mid-July, and is followed by several shows throughout the United States, ending with a performance on August 13th in Atlanta, Georgia. This tour is celebrating the reunion of the band, who have not been on stage live together with the original lineup in 18 years, and they are looking to bring the same energy they left the stage with all those years ago.
L7 formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985 by Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner, due to their sound and image the band was categorized as grunge/punk rock of the era, bringing with them a a feminist agenda that helped influenced riot grrrrl bands of the 90’s. The band’s name is a derivative of a slang phrase meaning “square” or “loser” and they led the brigade women’s rights movements. In 1991 the band formed a group named Rock of Choice, which was a pro-choice women’s rights group that received waves of support from prominent bands of the era including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Rage Against the Machine.
The band released six studio albums over their active 15 years, with a revolving door of band members joining and leaving the band, and after countless appearances on shows like Late Night with David Letterman, The Jon Stewart Show, 120 Minutes, and many more, the group took a hiatus in 2001, writing on their website “L7 are on an indefinite hiatus. We know that’s vague, but that’s just the way it is. The future of the band is a bit up in the air at the moment.” fear gripped all their fans when finding out that the band will no longer be performing shows. Since the Sparks has been pursuing her own solo career, along with L7 member Demetra Plakas and two other guitarists forming Donita Sparks and The Stellar Moments, while Finch went on to work in punk rock group The Shocker.
Sparks is additionally working on a documentary film that she announced she was creating about the band “L7: Pretend We’re Dead” which is funded by fans around the world through Kickstarter. This film announcement put the band back in the spotlight and confirmed that they are not completely gone, they can, and will return.

The announcement of their return sent a far more electric reaction than they could have ever expected, becoming a stronger catalyst for a highly anticipated reunion of a band the swept the grunge rock scene of its era and is looking to make a hell of a comeback.
