The Smashing Pumpkins will be performing its “In Plainsong” tour at the Theatre at Ace Hotel with special guest Liz Phair on two consecutive nights, from March 26 to March 27. The band, consisting currently of Billy Corgan, original drummer Jimmy Chamberlain and guitarist Jeff Schroeder, performed an “In Plainsong” tour last year that was met with positive vibes from the audience. The setlist consisted of many songs throughout The Pumpkins and Billy’s solo tour, as well as songs from Billy’s days in Zwan, and all the songs were done with a stripped-down performance in acoustic and piano. The band has stated that once the tour is over, it will go into the studio to record its next album that most likely will capture the essence of the more mellow tone of this tour.
Liz Phair’s addition to this lineup will pair two icons from the 90s. Phair’s Grammy nominations in 1995 and 1996 solidified her as a rising star at the time, and since then, she has gone on to release a total of six albums, selling over 3 milion albums worldwide.
