The lineup for the 2nd annual Bestival in Toronto has been announced. According to Consequence of Sound, the UK-based festival in Toronto will include headliners The Cure and Tame Impala, along with Grimes, Jamie xx, Odesza, Daughter, The Twilight Sad, The Wombats, Giraffage, and Classixx. Tickets are now on sale on the Bestival website.
The Cure will headline. Back in October, the band announced their first tour since 2004, which they will embark upon in June and includes shows in North American and European cities, along with stop in the music festival circuit such as Sasquatch! and Bestival’s UK counterpart.
The goth group will share the spotlight with Tame Impala, who are known for their groovy synth sound, floating falsettos, and visual displays during live performances. Their most recent album “Currents” was universally extoled by critics and fans alike, and gleaned success from singles “Cause I’m A Man,” “Let It Happen,” “Eventually,” and “The Less I Know the Better.” The group is currently wrapping up the South American leg of their largely sold out world tour.
Ticketholders and look forward to seeing Grimes. The synthpop artist’s latest album Art Angels was released to widespread critical acclaim and was placed on many best-of-2015 lists. She is best known for singles “Genesis,” “Flesh Without Blood,” and “Kill v. Maim.”
Bestival began in 2004 as an annual UK festival and summer-ending tradition, but has since branch out to North America. The original boutique boasts over 50,000 each year and is known celebration of creativity and eclecticism, which is reflected in some of it’s previous headlining acts: Stevie Wonder, Florence & The Machine, The Cure, and Kraftwerk.
