The first round of acts for this year’s Bestival have been announced, with The Cure and Major Lazer being the main stage headliners. The third headliner is yet to be announced; however, the lineup is diverse and includes other bands like Animal Collective, Hot Chip, Bastille, Wolf Alice, Katy B, MØ, Years & Years, and many more.
Bestival is a four-day music festival located at the Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight, England. This year it takes place September 8-11.
The festival was started and organized by DJ and record producer, Rob da Bank and his wife Josie da Bank in 2004. According to the UK Festival Awards Conference, Bestival won ‘Best Major Festival’ in 2015, adding to its collection of previous wins like ‘Best Medium-Sized Festival’ in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009, ‘Fan’s Favourite’ in 2011, and ‘Best Innovation’ in 2005.
Sources say, each year the festival picks a theme; this year’s theme has been confirmed as “the future”. Bestival encourages festival goers to dress in costume accordingly.
“So, here we go again, but this time we’re going far … far away … into the future,” said Rob da Bank in a release statement. “Prepare yourselves for a Bestival unlike any other with futuristic new stages, and as ever it’s a broad church of music from every decade and every genre.”
