While the audience is still waiting on the new collaborative album from the esteemed duo John Kaada and Mike Patton, or as they are more commonly known Kaada/Patton, the pair has chosen to release to the public new brand music video for their track off the upcoming LP Bacteria Cult by Ipecac Recordings set to be released on April 1st. This new video is an inside look of things to come from the collaborative efforts of the dynamic pair, who have not worked together since their most recent album Live, which was the DVD featuring a black & white live performance of the music off their first album Romances from Roskilde Festival 2005.
Norwegian composer John Kaada and musical jack-of-all-trades Mike Patton have premiered their new video “Imodium” today via Pitchfork, the new video, which is directed by Alexandru Ponoran and filmed for the most part in Romania, features a series of disturbing images accompanied by the orchestral music which strings together a troubling theme of religion and family.
Opening up with a series of family pictures and moving quickly on to a family sitting around together at what seems to be a dinner table, under a cross, in a very mysterious house, with the ominous music that Kaada/Patton produced for this video rising in the background. The video continues on with even more questionable images, with depictions of pigs being slaughtered, children dressed as their adults counterparts, bugs, and somehow even Santa Clause made a surprise appearance in the music video, all of which is following the sound effects and musical undertones that the Norwegian pair chose to put in their music. The short taste that the duo has decided to share with their fans concludes with images of incest and the female body, finishing off with chaotic scenes and leaving the viewer wondering what has just happened.
The new music video is nothing short of confusing, but knowing Kaada/Patton and the style they use over the years, this mysterious set of scenes seems to be a small part of the whole that will be their upcoming new album. The artist have not missed a beat in their ability to create raw. compelling, eclectic, experimental and cinematic music that causes a listener to truly think.
