The Satellites will be presenting Eleanor Friedberger (from Fiery Furnaces), Chris Cohen, Meganet, & Icewater on March 10. The singer-songwriter Friedberger is best known as one half of the indie rock duo The Fiery Furnaces, alongside her older brother Matthew Friedberger. Her latest solo album is “New View,” released in January. It is her third solo album and her first release on Frenchkiss Records, having released her first two albums through Merge Records.
Friedberger first starting makes waves with her debut album “Last Summer,” which had her dealing out bouncy piano power pop imbued with enough twists and turns that were enough to make her stand out in the indie world while at the same time fitting in.
Also on hand will be Chris Cohen,LA-native multi-instrumentalist who records himself changing styles and techniques throughout the years. Cohen has been a contributing member of The Curtains, Cryptacize, Deerhoof, Natural Dreamers, and Park Detail’s Band. He has also toured as a member of White Magic, Cass McCombs, Haunted Graffiti and Danielson.
Last but not least is Icewater, currently consisting of Noah Hecht, Michael and his brother Jonathan Rosen, and Malcolm Perkins. Icewater is also the backing band for Eleanor Friedberger (of The Fiery Furnaces). They recently collaborated and recorded on her third album.
