Kanye West Announced As FYF Fest Headliner

On Thursday, August 20, FYF Fest announced that its Saturday headliner would be Kanye West. The rapper will be performing at the festival this weekend on August 22.

FYF Fest is in its 12th year and will be taking place at Memorial Sports Arena & Exposition Park in Los Angeles. Most of the lineup for the festival was announced in spring 2015 but weekend passes are still on sale. Saturday will feature performances from Bloc Party, Run the Jewels, Chet Faker and more, with West headlining. The headliner for Sunday will be Morrissey, with other day two artists including FKA Twigs, Belle & Sebastian, Toro Y Moi, Death Grips and more. Frank Ocean was originally supposed to appear at the festival but decided to cancel on his own terms. See the flyer below for the full lineup.

This year has been both a successful and tumultuous one for Kanye West. He was announced as a headliner for Glastonbury 2015 which was soon followed by a petition to prevent him from headlining the festival. West did end up performing at Glastonbury in the end, where he brought Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon onstage with him. West also showed up onstage at Coachella this year, joining Stromae’s performance and appearing onstage during The Weeknd’s Coachella performance. He did not, however, make an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live during SXSW 2015 as he had planned.

In non-festival-related news, West and frequent collaborator Jay-Z were accused of owing Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera money for sampling song without proper permissions. Most recently, it was announced that the controversial rapper has been working with Chance the Rapper on a new musical project.
