Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Hozier, Dawes And More Pay Tribute To Bob Dylan For ’65 Revisited Set At Newport Folk Festival

Newport Folk Festival took place from Sunday, July 24th until Sunday, July 26th. The festival came to a close when multiple artists came together to pay tribute to Bob Dylan. The artists revisited his electric set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the renowned performance.

In 1965, Bob Dylan changed his style in music. It was shocking to all when the folk artist no longer desired to use his voice, harmonica, and acoustic guitar mix. Deciding to go electric, he performed at the Newport Folk Festival for the third time. This time, he combined worlds of folk and rock and wowed the audience with a show that would never be forgotten. The celebratory 50th anniversary surprise set was named “’65 Revisited,” and the musicians created another moment to be remembered.

“’65 Revisited” opened with song titled “Mr. Tambourine Man,” performed by Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, followed by “All I Really Want to Do,” performed by Willie Watson. Dawes brought the electricity with their surprise appearance, performing “Maggie’s Farm.” When Welch, Rawlings, Dawes, and Al Kooper performed “Like a Rolling Stone,” the crowd roared and sang with the chorus. The show came to a close with the song “Rainy Day Woman,” performed by all of the artists together.
