Jefferson Starship and Purple Mountains Majesties will be performing at the Summer Nights festival taking place at the Santa Monica Pier on August 27. The show is free and for all ages.
Jefferson Starship is an American rock band formed in the early 1970s by several members of the former psychedelic rock group Airplane. The band has released nine albums over numerous lineup changes. The group’s most recent album was Jefferson’s Tree of Liberty, released in 2008. The band is known for playing folk rock, psychedelic rock and progressive rock. Opening for them is Purple Mountains Majesties, a six-piece group originating in Orange County. They are known for playing folk songs and sing-along songs.
The Summer Nights festival is presented by KCRW, a public radio station known for coming out of the studio and engaging with the community. The station has hosted dozens of outdoor performances across Los Angeles. Be sure to catch Jefferson Starship and Purple Mountains Majesties at the Santa Monica Pier in August.
