Hip-hop trio De La Soul will be performing at the Annenberg Space for Photography on August 1. The Long Island natives created a Kickstarter to help fund their upcoming album And the Anonymous Nobody, which surpassed the original goal of $110,000 in less than two days. It is scheduled to be released in September this year.
The group gained fame with their debut album 3 Feet High and Rising which showcased their use of sampling and unique style of surreal lyrics. That album is considered a hip hop masterpiece. De La Soul is known for having contributed to the evolution of the jazz hop subgenre and they have become prominent members of the Universal Zulu Nation.
De La Soul will bring crafty beats, lyrics with a social conscience, and much more to the stage for this special show. The event will be hosted by hosted by Garth Trinidad. Don’t miss out!
