Alternative pop group The Ting Tings will perform at the Fonda Theatre July 2. The duo consists of Katie White (vocals, guitar, bass drums) and Jules De Martino (drums, vocals). They are touring in support of their most recent album Super Critical, released October last year. The album has reached 21 on the UK Indie Albums Chart.
Before forming The Ting Tings, White was in the all-female punk band TKO and De Martino wrote songs for them. Years later, the two reunited and began working on their own music and signed onto indie label Switchflicker Records and released their debut single “That’s Not My Name” in 2007. The single went to the top of the UK charts the following year in May, the same month their debut album, We Started Nothing, was released.
Over the years, The Ting Tings have gone on to release three studio albums to date. They have won many awards, including UK Festival Awards 2008 Festival Pop Act, the Ivor Novello Awards 2009 Album Award for We Started Nothing, and the IDMA 2009 Best Break-Through Artist. Be sure to catch them when they make a stop at the Fonda Theatre in July.
