East India Youth @ The Roxy 5/1

Multi-instrumentalist William Doyle, better known by his stage name East India Youth, will bring his electronic synthpop to the Roxy May 1. The UK native released his first album Total Strife Forever last year and will release his second album Culture of Volume in April of this year. His debut album reached #3 on the UK Indie Breakers Chart.

Doyle was previously the lead singer of indie band Doyle and the Fourfathers but the group disbanded after only three years. He said he was feeling tired of guitar music and instead opted to make dance, ambient and experimental music. East India Youth gained critical acclaim for his Hostel EP released via Quietus Phonographic Corporation in 2013.

East India Youth has been lauded as the “new voice in British music.” In October he was nominated for the 2014 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize Album of the Year award. Two songs from his upcoming album “Turn Away” and “Carousel” are available now on YouTube. Culture of Volume is the first East India Youth album to be released by the Richard Russell owned label XL Recordings.
