A month since their first share of the kind, Daft Punk has crafted another playlist via Spotify, this time curated by Daft Punk partner Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. On top of this, the French house duo add a Franz Ferdinand remix to their repertoire.
The mild-mannered “Take Me Out” remix received a few shrugs and a bemused response from Franz Ferdinand, whose Summer release Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions goes on tour this October. “I always love getting remix back because I’m fascinated by what people do with a song,” says frontman Alex Kapranos. “Sometimes you get something back and it’s completely unrecognizable, and sometimes you get it back like this! It’s pretty much identical! They beefed up the bottom end and a couple of sections were extended, but I guess it was a bit of a nod from the Daft Punk guys to say: ‘Ach, you got it more or less right.'”
As for their Spotify playlist, which comes a few days after Random Access Memories‘ single “Lose Yourself To Dance” received its video refresher, Daft Punk now shows off their wide-arcing musical tastes with a sampling of rap, classic rock, pop and electronic. Drake, Ariel Pink, Phil Collins, TNGHT, Stevie Nicks and the Ramones make the list alongside French countryman and Impressionist composer Maurice Ravel.
