Jamie Smith of The xx releases a new album comprised of remixes and Gil Scott-Heron smaples. Gil Scott-Heron’s voice had once been a fixture in Jamie Smith’s pre-pubescent life. He remarked to Pitchfork Magazine that he remembers listening to Scott-Heron as a child and never dreamed of seeing his own name next to Scott-Heron’s on an album. Yet on February 22nd the album We’re New Here will drop in the US and fans will hear famed xx producer dubbing Scott-Heron’s vocals over his own instrumentals and beats.
