English rock band Blur will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl on October 20 as it continues to promote its latest album The Magic Whip, released in April this year. The band formed in Colchester, England, in 1989, and became famous for its unique style of loud pseudo-psychedelic guitar pop, becoming one of the most popular bands to emerge from the U.K. in the mid-90s.
The band consists of Damon Albarn (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Graham Coxon (guitar, vocals), Alex James (bass) and Dave Rowntree (drums). After subsequent tours in 1999–2000, the members of Blur pursued other projects, including Albarn’s creation of Gorillaz and a string of solo albums by Coxon. The band announced its reunion in 2008.
In February 2015, Blur announced its first album in twelve years, The Magic Whip, marking the longest gap between two studio albums in Blur’s career. The album was recorded in Hong Kong over the course of five days when the band’s tour in Japan was cancelled for unknown reasons. Be sure to catch Blur as they perform new songs from The Magic Whip as well as classics!
