Liverpool indie rock band The Wombats will perform at the Fonda Theatre May 12 to promote their upcoming album Glitterbug coming out April 6. The British trio had success with their 2011 release This Modern Glitch, where a total of six singles spawned. That album as a whole charted at #2 on the Australian Album Charts and #3 on the UK Album Charts.
The band consists of Vocalist and guitarist Matthew Murphy, drummer Dan Haggis, and bassist Tord Øverland-Knudsen. They met at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and have been The Wombats since 2003. Aside from indie rock, they are known for playing alternative dance, new wave, electronic-influenced pop and post-punk.
The Glitterbug Tour 2015 will have The Wombats playing shows all the way until September playing mostly in Europe. Currently released songs from their Album Glitterbug are “Greek Tragedy,” “Emoticons” and “Your Body is a Weapon.” Be sure to catch them during their short time in the U.S.!
