The team over at R5 Productions announced a super exciting Mystery Show that is going down TONIGHT (12/30) at the First Unitarian Church. The details have been scarce, but a few clues have been revealed that have helped us determine who we think you can expect at tonight’s show.
First up is one of the headlining acts, Thy Foes Profanely Rage. The only description provided by R5 Productions is “Long time band from Philly.” That doesn’t give us much to go on, but if you were to google the phrase “they foes profanely rage,” it seems to point pretty clearly at mewithoutYou as band #1. The guys have all but confirmed their appearance at this point, having tweeted a link today to the show’s poster with the words, “This might be worth checking out if you’re in or around Philly.” So, it’s pretty safe to say that mewithoutYou will be performing tonight at The Church.
The second headliner is called “Eight Legged Prawn.” Their brief description sounds quite familiar to fans of local Philly bands. “We’re from a little town called Litilz. We write honest music and are passionate about doing so.” Clearly this is The Districts. If you need more proof, there’s also the fact that The Districts have already used this moniker before. Back in July, they played a secret show in North Philly using the same name.
And finally, the show will be opened by a band called Lithuania. This one isn’t exactly a secret, but is still an exciting opening act. For those who may be unfamiliar with this side project, the description from R5 Productions tells us that Lithuania is comprised of Dom Angelella (DRGN King) and Eric Slick. Friends for over 10 years, the duo joined forces back in 2005. Over the years, they’ve played a handful of shows, including stops at SXSW. They released their first proper EP this year. Their debut full-length album, Hardcore Friends, is do out sometime in 2015.
This one is bound to sell out, so make sure to grab your tickets ASAP.
