A few weeks ago, Hozier made his debut on the Philly stage at the Non-COMMvention Showcase. But now, the Irish crooner is returning to Philadelphia for what will be his first headlining show. You can catch him at The Trocadero on November 1st.
Hozier is the moniker of Andrew Hozier-Byrne, an Irish singer-songwriter born on St. Patrick’s Day. He released his EP Take Me to Church in 2013. The title track was his breakthrough single and would go on to reach number one on the Irish iTunes singles chart. Hozier carries the gospel sound onto another song from his EP, “Angel of Small Death.” He later released the From Eden EP, another 4 song collection.
In addition to announcing his upcoming North American tour, Hozier also released a new track last week entitled “Sedated.” You can take a listen to the song here. The young musician is poised for a big year. He’s already been named one of Spotify’s Spotlight Artists to Watch 2014 and has been following up a run of successful SXSW performances and sold out shows in LA and NYC with several festival appearances. His November performance at The Troc is one that you certainly do not want to miss. Stay tuned for more from Hozier, including his debut album which is expected sometime this summer or fall.
Opening for Hozier on November 1st will be James Bay, another young singer from across the pond. The 23 year old from the UK says he’s “trying to make songs that make people feel something and, if I’m lucky, even move them.” Catch both artists this fall when they bring their emotional tunes to the Philly stage!
