New York’s Coheed and Cambria released an Endless Summer version of their album track “Goodbye, Sunshine” featuring Nick Hexum of 311. Their latest album, The Father of Make Believe, was released earlier this year.
Co-produced by King Tubby and Dug legend The Scientist, the song version was written from scratch with a tropical vibe rather than as a simple remix. The song includes a tropical beat with bouncy synth, guitar and vocals. Zakk Cervini and Julian Gargiulo aided with additional production, mixing and mastering. The band also shared a Dub Mix version produced and mixed by The Scientist.
“The arrangement was born out of a Chicago Q101 Pop-Up stripped-down radio performance. We enjoyed the version so much, we chose to explore it further by enlisting the help of 311’s Nick Hexum and dub producer The Scientist,” Singer Claudio Sanchez said.
A music video directed by Josh Forbes was released with the song, portraying colorful scenes of 80s tropical party life. The positive, relaxing sound of the song matches the whimsical scenes appearing in the music video.
“It plays within the concept of the alternate realities we explored in our previous videos for our new album, The Father Make Believe, while paying homage to one of our earliest videos, ‘A Favor House Atlantic, ‘ with some inspiration from the 1986 Harold Ramis comedy film, Club Paradise,” Sanchez said.
Coheed and Cambria just kicked off their summer co-headline tour alongside Taking Back Sunday with support from Foxing. This November, the band will embark on their S.S. Neverender 2025 cruise with Tursday, L.S. Dunes, The Dear Hunter, Illuminati Hotties and more.
