According to pitchfork.com Pulitzer Winner Rhiannon Giddens announced she will be releasing her new album You’re the One on August 18 by Nonesuch Records. The album was produced by Jack Splash, who has worked with Kendrick Lamar, Solange and Alicia Keys.
In the following statement Giddens describes what each track sounds like on her upcoming album.
“I hope that people just hear American music. Blues, jazz, Cajun, country, gospel, and rock—it’s all there. I like to be where it meets organically. They’re fun songs, and I wanted them to have as much of a chance as they could to reach people who might dig them but don’t know anything about what I do. If they’re introduced to me through this record, they might go listen to other music I’ve made and make some new discoveries.”
In light of the happy news, Giddens has also shared single “You’re the Only One.” As a whole, the tune is stunning by how the instrumentation sizzles the air with the bittersweet sound while the artist serenades the ears with her strong and beautiful vocal performance. “You’re the Only One” is a ditty that is filled with musical creativity.
Giddens and orchestral composer Michael Abels were awarded this years Pulitzer in Music for the opera Omar.
