Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Glen Matlock has announced a series of live shows celebrating his upcoming studio album Consequences Coming. The singer-songwriter will be performing five shows across the world starting with a show at Los Angeles’ Roxy Theatre on Saturday, April 29.
The original bassist and songwriter of the English punk rock band the Sex Pistols, Matlock returns with a new solo album his first solo record in five years. Consequences Coming, set to release on April 28, 2023, is a 13-track record with Matlock’s views of the political climate over the last couple of years.
“The album was written and recorded in Britain over the last 18 months or so with a posse of seasoned but on point performers.” says Matlock. “All done during the debacle that is Brexit and the rise and fall of the turgid Trump episode in the US. These songs reflect my take on the whole sorry mess that has ensued.” Matlock elaborates on the album, “Now the wheels of the music business can sometimes move at a lugubrious, glacial pace, and sometimes the moment might be lost but seeing no break in the clouds or clear light at the end of the tunnel, surely the only demand on people’s lips should be that there are ‘Consequences Coming’ for the fat headed oafs who have foisted their asinine warped sensibilities on us.”
Accredited of writing majority of the Sex Pistol’s only album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Matlock departed the band in 1977 leading to official break up of the band a year later. After leaving the band, Matlock formed the Rich Kids, The Vicious White Kids, Spectres, Hot Club, and toured and co-wrote with Iggy Pop. In 1996, Matlock debuted his solo career with the record Who’s He Think He Is When He’s at Home? via Creation Records. At the same time, Matlock rejoined Sex Pistols members for the first of many reunion tours.
In 2022, Matlock joined the New York rock band Blondie. He will be apart of their upcoming 2023 album. Matlock was also signed to Cooking Vinyl for solo record deal. Following the release of the single “Head On A Stick” the long-awaited politically pertinent new solo album arrives Thursday, April 27.
To celebrate the new record Matlock will be performing in London, Leeds, Belfast, Reading, and Los Angeles.
