Los Angeles-based DJ/producer Henry Steinway creates his music by fusing hip-hop, electro, drum’n’bass, and lots of other bass-heavy genres. Steinway goes by RL Grime on the stage.
RL Grime made it official with Grapes EP, released 10 years ago in 2012. The full-length debut of Void came 2 years later in 2014 and featured popular rapper Big Sean, EDM producer Boys Noize, and indie artist How to Dress Well. A remix album shadowed, as well as “Tell Me,” which was a collab with What So Not, and a remix of one of The Weeknd’s most popular songs “The Hills.” Grime’s single “Aurora” popped up in 2016 and “Waiting,” with Skrillex and What So Not.
“Reims” and “Stay for It” with R&B artist Miguel, followed in 2017, before the release of RL Grime’s second album, Nova. A couple of singles, “Pressure” and a Jeremih/Tory Lanez collaboration “Undo,” dropped in 2018. NOVA was released by WeDidIt in July, and featured additional features from Billboard artists Chief Keef, Ty Dolla $ign, and Joji. The album climbed to the number one spot on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart in August of that same year. In 2020, he issued the compilation Sable Valley Summer, Vol. 1.
