Echosmith returned to Los Angeles to perform their first hometown show in over two years. The indie pop band performed on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the infamous El Rey Theatre for a special intimate show before closing out The Hang Around Tour. The band was accompanied by special guests Band of Silver and Lost Boy Crow.
The indie pop band composed of siblings Sydney, Noah and Graham Sierota had several surprises for fans throughout the night. The crowd cheered as one by one the trio made their way on stage with a theatrical entrance building up the energy in the venue. After opening with an intense heavy drum rendition of their new single “Gelato,” the band enthusiastically addressed the crowd not only expressing their excitement and gratitude but sharing that they had worked hard over a year to craft the most incredible show focusing on a direct connection with their fans.
Echosmith did as they planned, they performed one of the most engaging and connection-driven shows ever. The band not only had an impeccable crowd engagement, but they even went as far as to allow a fan to choose a song for them to perform. In efforts to make every show on their tour extra unique Echosmith had fortune cookies custom made which included the names of several of their songs not included on their setlist. With the help of a lucky fan, a fortune cookie was chosen to select the band’s next song. At the El Rey Theatre one fan in the front row picked out a cookie with the song “Come With Me.” The stunt was followed by an incredible mashup of songs requested by fans via social media. The mashup consisted of “Let’s Love,” “Come Together,” “Get Into My Car,” “Favorite Sound,” “God Only Knows,” and “Surround You.”

The band surprised fans with the performance of their unreleased track “Hindsight” and event brought a fan on stage to record a special heart-warming video for them and their friend. Vocalist Sydney Sierota gave a speech about thanking your special loved one who’s supported you throughout the years. After asking several fans on who they specifically thought of, Sydney called one fan on stage to record a thank you video for their best friend with the help of the crowd.
The surprises continued throughout the night as Echosmith performed an acoustic cover of Fleetwood Mac’s iconic “Dreams” and their own rendition of Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away.” The band also performed more of their hits from their 2013 debut album, Talking Dreams, such as “Bright” and TikTok trending song “Cool Kids.” The band officially closed the show with their re-imagined version of the triple platinum hit “Cool Kids (our version).”
Echosmith is definitely a must-see band, as their live performances are nothing but cosmic, focusing on creating a fun and unique experience. The alternative sibling trio will close out their 2022 performances on Nov. 19 in San Diego, California.
