The independent record company Cosmica Artists is set to celebrate 18 years of music, community and so much more at The Ford on Saturday, Oct. 1. As homage to the label’s legacy, the night is set to feature live performances from Thee Sinseers, Luna Luna, Katzù Oso and Irene Diaz.
The LA record label celebrates its history by showcasing some of the Latinx voices of today. The record company, founded by Gil Gastelum, is driven by community, dedicated to creating a welcoming community through the arts. Cosmica Artists is home to The Red Pears, Reyna, The Tiarras and more. The label not only celebrates Latinx sounds and creators, but they also focus on a variety if philanthropy by creating benefit shows and donations. For example, Cosmica Artists most recently partnered with We All Grow Latina and Empress to present “Her Body. Her Rights. Her Poder,” a benefit concert held on Aug. 11 at The Paramount in which all proceeds were donated to The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice.
The East LA R&B soul band Thee Sinseers will take part in the Noche Cosmica celebration. The group is also set to be at the Chicano Heritage Festival in Santa Ana on Aug. 28. Irene Diaz is praised for her impactful songwriting and is celebrating the release of her straight-to-the-heart debut pop album, Lovers and Friends.
Another band set to perform at Noche Comsica is the four-piece pop-driven indie rock band Luna Luna. The group is recognized for their bilingual dream pop sound. The band is currently on their fall tour which includes a special appearance at the Austin City Limits festival on Oct. 9. Another Cosmica Artists that will be at the Noche Comica and Austin City Limits festival is Katzù Oso. The dreamy synth-pop artists is based in Los Angeles and rapidly grew to fame following the release of his first single “Sophie” in 2017. The artist now celebrates the release of his debut album Tmi.
