For whoever said the original can never be outdone, meet Brooklyn-based Class Actress. After Elizabeth Harper heard producer Mark Richardson’s remix of a song on her solo album Elizabeth Harper, she decided she liked it better than the original – so much so that she wanted to collaborate with him on every song thereafter. They met multi-instrumentalist/producer Scott Rosenthal a short while after, and the rest is sweet, synthy history.
They’re playing a show at the Echo on February 9, and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the 5th night before Valentines Day – which, let’s be honest, is usually the night that dread about the fateful 14th starts to creep in and those unfortunate souls not in a loving and/or committed relationship start to feel a growing sense of desperation and woe. Ahem.
That being said, a Class Actress show seems to be the perfect remedy- you’ll be way too distracted by their cheeky songs to notice any feelings of growing panic. And who knows, maybe you’ll even meet the perfect companion for the 14th at the show…wishful thinking perhaps, but one can hope. Cheers!
