The New York City-based music festival Governors Ball has announced its 2020 lineup featuring Australian psychedelic rock band Tame Impala, American rapper Missy Elliott, and Fleetwood Mac frontwoman and acclaimed singer-songriter Stevie Nicks as a part of its 2020 lineup. This event is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 5th through Sunday, June 7th on Randall’s Island Park.
Other prominent artists featured on the lineup include Flume, Vampire Weekend, Solange, Miley Cyrus, Ellie Goulding, H.E.R., RÜFÜS DU SOL, Portugal. The Man, Jon Bellion, Khruangbin, Carly Rae Jepsen, Of Monsters and Men, and Bleachers. This will be the tenth edition of the music festival.
Tame Impala announced an album release for this year titled The Slow Rush, which is a follow-up from the group’s 2015 record Currents. The band debuted the tracks “It Might Be Time,” along with the song “Posthumous Forgiveness” in the months after the announcement of their upcoming album release.
“A lot of the songs carry this idea of time passing, of seeing your life flash before your eyes, being able to see clearly your life from this point onwards,” the band’s main figure Kevin Parker explained. “I’m being swept by this notion of time passing. There’s something really intoxicating about it.”
Missy Elliott debuted an EP titled Iconology last year, which contained single releases such as “Throw It Back,” and the music video accompanied track “Dripdemeanor.” Nicks will be performing at this year’s BottleRock Napa Valley music festival in California, which will hosts acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals.
