Earlier this year, Caleb Scofield tragically died in a car accident, leaving behind a wife and two children. Scofield’s musical contributions as the bassist for hardcore turned art-rock turned back to hardcore group Cave In, influenced years and multitudes of heavy bands.
The first of a pair of tribute/charity shows for the musician’s family will take place in Boston, MA tonight at 7pm EST/4pm PST. Fans who aren’t able to attend the show can live stream the performances via Scofield’s benefit site, and you can watch it all here. Performing at this first tribute is Converge, Young Widows, The Cancer Conspiracy, and two bands which Scofield was a part of, Cave In and Old Man Gloom. Expect it to be an emotional night for everyone involved; most of the members of these bands have played with Scofield at one time or another.
The second tribute show will take place in Los Angeles on October 13, 2018. Notably, the former members of ISIS will reunite for one-off performance as “Celestial,” the title of the legendary post-metal band’s debut LP. All profits from both shows will go to Scofield’s family.
