Almost a year after the death of Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda takes a major first step in his work as a solo artist. While arguably his first true step was the release of his Post Traumatic EP, Shinoda has now booked his first performance since Bennington’s death. Mike Shinoda will headline the Identity LA music festival in Grant Park of Downtown, Los Angeles on May 12th. The event celebrates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, honoring Asian American activists and the contributions of the Asian Pacific American community to the city.
The event is completely free, and speaking to Shinoda’s clear efforts to make an impact in his surrounding world. As a musician, and fine artist, it speaks volumes to see Shinoda dedicate so much of his work to causes and events that promote change and positivity.
At the event fans can expect to hear songs from the Post Traumatic EP, but also perhaps some new music. In March of 2018, Shinoda announced through social media that he is working on a new solo album with the same name to be released on June 15, 2018. This is just one month after his May 12th performance, and it is not far off to imagine he will bring his new music to test preview in his hometown of Los Angeles, CA.
