Toronto’s premier downtown music and arts festival Field Trip is back for a sixth year and features a lineup that will not be forgotten. The festival will take place Saturday June 2 and Sunday June 3 at the historic Fort York & Garrison Common.
The lineup this year will feature Metric (who will be playing their album Fantasies in full), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bahamas, Alvvays, Allan Rayman, Japandroids, Deer Tick, Jacob Banks, The Barr Brothers, Middle Kids, Allie X, Partner and many more. The event will also be free for kids and will be marketed as a family event like always.
The festival began in 2013 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Canadian independent music company Arts and Crafts. “Field Trip was built around the themes of discovery and community. In addition to world-class musical performances, the festival’s focus is on numerous elements of the city’s proud culture,” Jeffrey Remedios, co-founder and then president of A&C said in 2013. “Field Trip is a celebration of Toronto, of community and above all else, of the collaborative spirit.”
Field Trip programming crosses genre and generation, with children and comedy performances, all accessible by bike, foot and public transit in the heart of downtown Toronto at the city’s historic Fort York & Garrison Common. The site is home to Canada’s largest collection of original War of 1812 buildings and 1813 battle site.
Acts that have previously taken part in the festivities include Broken Social Scene, Feist, Robyn, Alabama Shakes, My Morning Jacket, Interpol, Santigold, Of Montreal, Thundercat, Charlotte Day Wilson, Purity Ring, Vance Joy, De La Soul, The Kills and many more.
