As mentioned by Far Out, Lana Del Rey and Adam Cohen took the stage to honor his late father with a cover of “Chelsea Hotel No. 2.” Leonard Cohen passed away last year, and today marks the anniversary of his death. The pair performed at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec last night as part of a tribute concert for Cohen which also included artists like Elvis Costello, Feist, k.d. lang, Damien Rice, Sting and more. Adam invited Lana Del Rey to join him on stage to perform a duet of “Chelsea Hotel No. 2” taken from his father’s 1974 album New Skin for the Old Ceremony. Lana Del Rey had originally covered the song in 2013.
Leonard Cohen was a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, poet, novelist, and painter who had a considerable influence on the music industry. Following his death, Del Rey paid homage to Cohen, sharing a post to Instagram that read “Not that it would’ve mattered to ya, it’s just that other than Bob and Joan you were the only person I ever really felt spoke my language.” Adam Cohen co-produced his father’s last album You Want It Darker, released in 2016. See the duo perform the cover below.
